The image below is of a very young specimen at just over 3″ (7.62 cm).   At this stage they appear to be very delicate and are quite shy.   As it grows the spots will reduce to the fins, gradually disappearing altogether.   Adults are jet-black.  One of the largest Loricariids, A. adonis is also one of the most belligerent and territorial.
